I’ve finally gotten around to playing and beating Half-life 2 episode 2.
I knew before I even began playing the game that I absolutely had to snag that Gnome achievement during my first play through....

People never cease to amaze me. It just blows me away that anybody can find enough time in their lives to learn such weird stuff. I suppose it’s just like any other hobby though, right? I wonder if he gets paid for those skills..

So last night I had finally gotten around to watching the first episode of the new season of Beauty and the Geek that I’d tivo’d (that’s right, I not only watch it, but I also tivo it so others can watch it with me at a later date!)
This was one of those episodes where they waste time trying to find new contestants for this season, and ordinarily it’d be pretty boring....

Warning! The following is a long rant about my bad day in Portland, it contains nothing of use and you will likely do well to just avoid reading it. If you don’t care, then carry on.
Well, I’ve finally arrived to Portland, Oregon. Unbelievably, I’ve actually had what’s got to be the worst string of bad events I’ve ever had in a single day....

There are some people who possess ridiculous amounts of completely under utilized talent. People such as Julian Beever, who makes the most mind blowing sidewalk art that just makes you sit and think.
Sure that is extremely impressive, but is that something you could actually make a living doing? How? I couldn’t imagine spending what has got to be a long long time on something that unique, only to have it washed away by ran or smeared by the shoes of pedestrian traffic....

So about 20 minutes ago I was sitting in bed working when something fairly interesting was mentioned on the news. All I heard were the words “java”, “oracle”, “space” to which I had to rewind and investigate.
The story regarded some contest to send a person to space that was held by Oracle back in 2005. Unfortunately, the winner of this prize discovered that he couldn’t take the trip as he would have to claim the prize as income and would be forced to pay $25,000 in taxes! Outrageous to say the least....

Today this move was brought to my attention. It shows a teacher drawing a perfect freehand circle on the chalk board for his class.
Not only is this fairly amazing to me, but I was also surprised to discover that there are competitions for drawing perfect freehand circles....

Earlier today a friend of mind linked me to what has to be the most hilarious request ever made on one of those freelance coder for hire sites.
Just feast your eyes on this beautiful opportunity. Wouldn’t you just love to win the bid on that? 1-3 thousand dollars for an operating system is quite a fabulous chance to make some easy money quickly....
